Carats

Carats tell you the weight of your diamond for example: 0.5 Carat is approximately equal to 100 milligrams. 

The heavier the diamond the more scarce they are, therefore their value increases accordingly for example engagement rings with two 0.75 Carat diamonds would have less value than an engagement ring with one 1.5Carat diamond, that is if the cut, clarity & colour are the same.     

However if your Engagement ring had for example three 0.5 Carat diamonds you would have  1.5 Carats diamonds, with signficantsaving, but a great display of brillance & sparkle.        

The size of a diamond depends on how it is cut whilst a flatter cut will appear to be larger, a deep cut stone will often have more brilliance & sparkle.  

Whilst carat weight is important ther are other qualities that make a diamond special so sometimes when it comes to diamonds the biggest is not always the best.
